THE DONNIS TRIO PLAY LOS ANGELES IN SUPPORT OF THEIR DEBUT ALBUM
On Saturday, March 3rd 2007, The Donnis Trio will be playing at Room 5 Lounge in support of their recently released album All Directions (Shady Tree Records). The San Diego-based band plays a unique blend of acoustic folk and rock fueled by masterful songwriting and robust baritone vocals.
The trio’s debut album All Directions was released on January 23 and captures a span of old and new material by award-winning songwriter Nate Donnis. Backing Donnis both live and on the record is the graceful slip-sliding of Denis Sluka on electric upright bass and the syncopated rhythms of percussionist Phil Woodring.
With roots in folk, acoustic rock, and reggae, the fourteen original songs on All Directions resonate with sleek acoustic arrangements, lyrical depth, and rich vocals. “Each track really has its own character.” notes Donnis. “We approached each song differently so that we could capture the essence and honesty of the lyric”.
The Trio was recently awarded first place in the San Diego Songwriter’s Guild contest by music industry professionals including: Brian Rawlings-VP Disney Music, Christopher Brooks – LA Film Score Producer, and local radio dj’s from San Diego. Their music has garnered attention from college and independent radio stations across the country and the band recently made their live television debut on San Diego’s KUSI.
Tickets for the March 3rd show are $6.00 and will be available at the door. The Donnis Trio will start at 8:00 p.m. followed by singer/songwriter Kina Grannis at 9:00.
